Is your toddler not eating a healthy breakfast? Mine too.
If it’s healthy, time-consuming to prepare and uses expensive (possibly even organic) ingredients, she won’t eat it. Nor will her big sister, come to think of it.
“Look! Look at what I made you! A delicious porridge with sesame seeds, fresh apple and cinnamon. Yum, yum, yum! What a wonderful mother I am. I’m pretty sure most kids get Cocoa Pops, but LOOK at what you two lucky girls get. Your mother is perfect. Absolutely … oh. You’re not eating it.
On for goodness sake. It took ages to make that. There are sesame seeds all over the floor. I had to grate the apple, by hand. And measure things. This stuff isn’t cheap, you know. Organic, sugar-free stuff costs twice as much.
No you can’t have some more sesame seeds, Laya! Eat the ones you have, there are some already mixed in there!
Just try it. How can you say yuck until you try it?
You do like healthy things. Don’t you remember that soy mince bolognaise you ate once? And that bright pink vegetable soup. Even thought it looked weird, you both ate two spoons! You definitely did!
No I don’t want to eat it, thank you. Mummy will eat later (a hot chocolate and croissant when neither of you are looking).
YOU KNOW WHEN I WAS GROWING UP, YOUR NANA SAID IF YOU DON’T EAT WHAT’S IN FRONT OF YOU, YOU DON’T GET ANYTHING ELSE!
Oh fine. Have the Cocoa Pops … You don’t want that either! For the love of God …
